The Courtyard

The Courtyard is a purpose-built office development designed for the Aga Khan Development Network, offering approximately 5,000 square meters of tailored workspace. The architectural concept centers around a landscaped internal courtyard, which organizes the plan and brings natural light, ventilation, and spatial relief into the heart of the building. Carefully proportioned volumes, clean modern lines, and a restrained material palette reflect the institution’s values of clarity, openness, and environmental responsiveness. The project’s controlled scale and thoughtful articulation contribute to its strong civic presence, earning it the 2014 award for Best Commercial Building in Nairobi.
